For non-financial professionals, as you progress in your career, there is an increasing need to read, understand and analyse financial statements to make various decisions. Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash flow Statement are all important statements that provide basic financial information of the company. Being able to understand financial statements will give you an edge in performing in your work place and business.

This course is designed for managers and executives with little or no knowledge of accounting and finance. Its aim is to introduce the accounting concepts and help participants to make sense of financial statements in a simple way, thereby enhancing their decision-making process.

This will be an interactive programme engaging participants to learn the basics of accounting and the importance of financial statements through games and group works. Besides being able to read financial statements, you will be introduced to financial analysis, cash flow management and investment decision making tools such as pay-out period, Net Present Value and Internal Rate of Returns.

After the workshop, you will be able to:

Methodology
This course is conducted using simple explanations and illustrations from real life examples to help participants understand and relate to their own working experiences. A number of financial statements of listed companies will be used to put into practice what was learnt in the course. Some quizzes and games will be used to make learning fun and interesting.

Ms Celine Tan holds a Master in Business Administration (with distinction) from Business School of Strathclyde (Scotland) and is a FCCA, Fellow of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and a member of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.  She has also obtained the Advanced Certificate for Training and Assessment from Institute for Adult Learning.

She has worked in several senior positions in public listed companies and MNC in the field of financial and management accounting for over 10 years, spanning across the industries of auditing, transportation, healthcare, shipping and trading. Some companies Celine has worked for are: SBS Transit Ltd (AVP, Finance), Parkway Health (Financial Controller) and Maersk Line (AGM Finance).

Celine’s working experience coupled with her involvement in various cross functional process improvement projects as well as providing internal and external training have further enhanced her skill in delivering relevant knowledge and solutions to the participants.
