The Food Safety Course Level 1 – previously known as WSQ Follow Food and Beverage Safety and Hygiene Policies and Procedures or WSQ Basic Food Hygiene Course, aims to provide learners with the essential knowledge and skill-sets to follow food & beverage safety and hygiene policies and procedures. This course is directly accredited NEA Course, which is required if one wishes to qualify as a Food Hygiene Officer (FHO)
The Food Safety Course Level 1 – previously known as WSQ Follow Food and Beverage Safety and Hygiene Policies and Procedures or WSQ Basic Food Hygiene Course, aims to provide learners with the essential knowledge and skill-sets to follow food & beverage safety and hygiene policies and procedures. This course is directly accredited NEA Course, which is required if one wishes to qualify as a Food Hygiene Officer (FHO)
The course consists of 6 hours of training and 1.5 hours of assessment. Upon successful completion of the course and assessment, a Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded to the participants. This will accord the participants to work in food and beverage preparation / pre-requisite to operate a food shop/stall.
Learning Objective
To equip participants with the knowledge and understanding on the importance of Food hygiene and safety while preparing or handling food.
Virtual Classroom
This course is now available for synchronous e-learning via ZOOM platform in English version. The course will be conducted in 7.5 hours inclusive of 1.5 hours for MCQ and ORAL assessment (Day 1) and practical performance assessment will assess on the next working day (Day 2) with given a time slot (30 mins).
Trainee must prepare some ingredients, tools, types of kitchen PPE etc. for the practical assessment. Please note that you will be requested to reschedule your assessment session to a later date if you do not have the full list of required props and setup.
Course Outline
Upon completion of this module, the trainee will have the knowledge and application skills with practising food and beverage safety and hygiene policies and procedures and be able to apply them to the workplace. This includes:
Course Duration 7.5 hours
9.30am to 6.00pm (Inclusive of lunch and including two short breaks with light refreshments)
– 6 hours training
Classroom sitting
-1.5 hours for assessment
25 MCQ – 50 mins
Oral Question – 15mins
Practical – 25 mins
Certification
Learners of “Food Safety Course Level 1” will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for Food Safety and Hygiene Level 1, after they have sat for the Assessment and be certified Competent. To fulfil the assessment requirement on safety and hygiene.
